Very fine portraits Steve,
They do work for me.
Cute little lady.
I wish I could see the lanscape in colour though - even if the light may not have been so good for colour - the composition works fine for me, I just miss the flowers and the variety of greens typical to the season. Perhaps also the last one, the lady selling jam made the old way in copper pan on the market, just curious to see the colourful jars, the yellowish light-bulbs, and the rafters above. 
Hope you're fast recovering from jet-lag.
