Thanks for the comments, Aram. There are still a few film photos in the
'pipeline', and as long as Leicaflexes have viewfinders I'll be producing at
least a few film-based photos.
In the field the DMR is a real boon. The most obvious use for it will be to
get the photos where film chokes, such as this bluebird photo where I had to
crop the file to about 1/3 the original size. Provia 400F would not have
survived the crop, and E100G would have had a rough time of it.
Digital capture's advantages of instant feedback and zero variable cost will be
very handy where I don't know how close I'll be able to approach the animal.
Typically I'd make a few exposures after a few steps closer, just to be sure I
have something better than previously - and with film this gets very expensive.
I've only begun to work with it and it will be a while before I get the most
out of the DMR - but so far I'm delighted with it.
