Philippe,
I tried, without success : the pin punches through the insulating material, 
"electrical" Scotch tape in this instance.I then removed the top cover of 
the winder, to check if the pin could be removed without  damage, and 
possibly re-installed later. It cannot, because it is moulded in the plastic 
material of which the cover is made. So, my friend, if you insist in saving 
the battery pack weight by all means, you'll have to sacrifice your winder 
by cutting off that central pin (ONLY that one, the two others are needed to 
properly position the winder on the R4 body). All the best !
