[LRflex] Re: leicareflex Digest V4 #115

Hi Phil
I agree with you about the R3 being very nice to use - very smooth,
isn't it?

The one which has been with the repairer for about 6 months now had very
little use, and was in lovely condition cosmetically, whereas No 2
(black, whereas No 1 is chrome) shows signs of use, with paint a bit
rubbed on edges, and scratches especially on the base. The repairer
showed me No 1 with the top cover off, and I was shocked at the number
of preset potentiometers, wires, switches, sliders, etc. All sources of
unreliability. Several of the many wires had broken, where they are
trapped under the prism housing - this is a common fault, it seems - and
he has replaced most of the wires now.

I 'm hoping that the problem with No 2 is just a poor connection on a
preset potentiometer, and can be quickly and easily solved. And I
sincerely hope it doesn't go like No 1!!

In the meantime, I'm going to get the R-E checked out next week.........

Regards and thanks for comment
