Hi Art,
sure there is something to be found faulty with the extender
70/210 combination - X2 magnifyes the beauties and the faults
altogether.
The Angenieux is less prone to the latter hence my purchase.
But I thnik that in the end the lack sharpness on the ducks,
rightly spoken of earlier on, seems to have more to do with :
a) focus and depth of field - if you have a look again, mark that
the icicles on the chest are finely rendered, but the trouble
rests with the head and "beak?" they're simply out of focus, and
that what we all first look at though.
b) scanning from a flat scanner and not a professional machine
the rest may be attributed to a loss in jpg conversion and of
course blamed on the lense itself.
I'd say that the X2 extender is only a better than nothing option
when you don't own a more powerful telyt.
I'll try to post some more snaps WITHOUT the extender later on in
the season.
Thanks for viewing and for your contribution.
Yours
Phileicangenieux
