John, I replied previously about the 21-35mm not working with my 1D Mark II. But I read a listing on eBay where a guy was selling his 21-35 lens. He said that he removed the plastic piece on the back of the lens, then the lens works with his 5D. He also commented that it only takes a few seconds to remove and reinstall the plastic piece. It's my most used lens, and I did the "Mancuso surgery" on my 5D specifically to get this lens to work with the camera. The mirror needed 1mm shaved off the outer edge to clear the lens.
