Eh, Eh, you are right, it's as old trick as ever. But This type or eraser does not grind out the contact. Do no use a 1 pence item or else you might destroy the surfacing. As douglas said, it might be a varnish coating that prevent the communication. This Mars eraser should be strong enough to clean out as the lens worked before. William, I guess we are facing a very similar case to the one you describe. The gold contacts of the LEICANON have a low Carat rating.... The Digilux 3 seems to be Ok on this subject....
