I imagine that, technically, they would.  Would it be significant? I doubt=
 it. But they would not make Doug any better a photographer, nor would they=
 make me suddenly produce work at Doug's level.  The joy of looking at=
 Doug's shots comes from his skill, not his lens.

You are right... most sellers of gear are selling nothing but dreams.
