3003 Cartridge: Yes! I've thought and dreamed about it.

Maybe one day, if I find a trashed full-frame DSLR, I could
recover the sensor and the electronics, though I doubt I have good
    enough technical skills....

Aha! we dream the same dreams!! :-)

And would a digital back for the 3003 go down well, too?

Sadly never to be- at least not unless I win the jackpot of the
    national
lottery, then I'll take a taxi and a briefcase full of cash to
Braunschweig and ask what the new Franke and Heidecke boffins can do.

(as is their 2.8/55 Macro, but that's another story, I don't think
scale focussing accuracy would be too good with it on an M) and a
C/Y to Leica-M adapter - come to think of it, that's a cheap way
of getting the excellent CZ 1.4/50 and the glorious bokeh of the
    1.4/85 on a Leica M, too. :-)
