Art,

Take it as a left over of my youngth in Africa where I protected all my toys since I had not much but ... it is quite difficult to remove the filters.

However, I'll follow the advice for my next trip to a great place (soon!). I'll pull off the filters. After all, the Leica R glass is strongly coated. And the glasses I have on the nose all day have no filter but survived well my lifestyle.

Cheers.

Xavier,

I've found that to be true about sidelighting.

Like I told Doug, even though I use high quality, multi-coated Nikkor filters
mostly, when I want to take no chances, I LEAVE ALL OF THE FILTERS OFF!
