[LRFlex] Re: Technique of photographing paintings?

Hi Xavier,
I have done lots of photography of artwork of this type because my wife
is an artist and I shot hers and her friends work. I would recommend the
50mm Summicron instead of the 35mm and in my case I use the 60mm Elmarit
macro as it is extremely flat field with very little distortion. Artwork of
that size is not a problem with a 50mm lens. The lighting has to be
consistant so I use two studio strobes with large softboxes at 45° to the
artwork. I meter the light output with a flash meter and shoot a test shot
with McBeth color checker cards to provide a known color balance referance
for the printer. Use a fine grained color neg. film that has neutral color
balance. Of course a tripod and patience helps too. Be consistant in your
work.

Dave
