I thought this might be okay. I started using this focusing screen with my long lenses and it is more trouble than I want to go to to make a change. I did recently get another screen from *bay and got burned.

Charles:

Some years ago, when I had *no* money, Ted Grant talked me into using a clear ground glass screen. "No distractions, and you can concentrate on the photo", he said.

He was, as always, right. But, having no money, I found an R-series screen for my R5 through a collectible camera place for $20, postpaid! It was the one with the grid lines.

I quickly discovered that the grid-lines proved no distraction and the often help me to align my horizons, so it stayed. When I got the R8, the grid-lined matte screen was my first purchase! Perfect for long glass, and OK for everything else!

Sorry about your "e-bay special"!
