Darn that autofocus. It thinks it is smarter than we are. Most of the time it is almost as smart, and the rest of the time it is downright dumb.Does look like a studio shot. 200 x 1.4 x.2 is a 560mm equivalent and I assume hand held at a modest ISO? That is impressive.Aram
Thanks, Aram!Yes, it was hand held... nothing else allowed at the festival, though they did grant all photographers who wanted it, access to a strip about 3 meters back from the stage, but in front of the crowd.
Exposure was 1/60th @ ISO 640 - no noise reduction or other "tweaking" has been applied. The Oly's in-body IS helps, but does nothing, of course, for the motion of the performers!
AF can, indeed, be a pain... but with my failing eyes, I'm getting a lot more keepers with AF than with MF. I am, of course, still using my 400 Telyt ... it has such a narrow range of focus, even wide open, than even I can still focus it accurately ... most of the time. I dread the day when that is no longer possible.
For comparison, here is a grab shot of my grandson, Nathan, as he crawled out of the water slide ... there is, I think, a slight bias towards his left (furthest away) eye, but it's ever so slight ... and for album shots, good enough, I think.
