Noel:
Spot on! You have a lot of company on this position, I suspect.
Digital technology is no guarantee of a great image as seen through the
viewfinder or lcd display. For that matter each technology (wet vs
dry) has its drawbacks.
At present, the number of "keeper" images from my R8 or R9 still
exceeds those shot with my Canon G5 which I only use at ISO 50 to 200.
If it's a serious shoot, I take the Leica Rs loaded with pro B&W or
Color (or one of each in the R8 and 9).
The digicam is convenient, useful, great for documenting real estate,
ad hoc events like trees downed by storms and will always be in my "big
bag". Who knows? Maybe someday a DMR in that bag as a sort of
"digital Big Brother".
But for now, every frame I shoot "from the heart' comes through an R
lens to film. Or my trusty little T2.

Dear All,
Reading recent posts makes me feel that I am missing out on something
by not having switched to digital (the French term numerique is so
much more expressive). Missing out on odd colour effects, erratic
electronics, battery woes, the need for firmware upgrades, the
spending of large amounts of money, etc, etc. Once "they" get it
right, digital may well be wonderful but for now the simplicity (and
beauty as tools) of the SL and SL2, and the serenity that comes from
working in the darkroom suit me just fine.
Merry festivities to all.
