[LRFlex] Short introduction

Noel Yates, freelance application developer, living in Woking, Surrey, England.

Now in my mid-50's I started photography at about 12 years of age and got my first Leica (IIIa) in 1969. My first SLR of any make was an SL bought in 1974. In 1987 I added an R3 then an R3MOT and in 2002, a black SL2. In my view Leica hit a peak with the SL/SL2 then added some useful functionality with the R3 and that's it for me. Automation beyond what the R3 provides has never been of any interest to me. There are only three technical controls on a camera: distance, lens aperture and shutter speed; not too tricky to learn. The hard part is what to point the camera at and when to push the button.

As for lenses, 21, 24, 28, 35/2.8, 35/2 (the old heavy model), 35/4 PA-Curtagon, 50/2, 60/2.8, 90/2, 180/2.8, 2x converter R; all acquired over three decades. The 21 and 24 lenses also see service on my M4-2 and M4-P attached with a Novoflex adaptor. I also have Canon T90 and Hasselblad equipment and, if all else fails, a Rollei 35.

Most of my personal work is black and white and I still have my darkroom but I scan and inkjet print colour as well and I am a contributor to picture library alamy.com.

Very best wishes to all,

Noel
