[LRFlex] Re: R8/9 - scary-looking or not?

Have just acquired R8 after working with (as amateur) an R3 since 1978 and think the ergonomics just fine. Think it "looks" fabulous. Having fun with "p" mode and better flash. Just have to use the lens collection for digital some day, and it seems starting over with an oriental brand could be just as expensive and am not sold on autofocus.

Have trouble focusing with the R8, however, and have ordered nonsplitimage screen in hopes it will be as nice as the one in my SL. Am a bit confused about this problem. One reason for timing of purchase is that R3 is broken and away for service and will be anxious to more thoroughly compare focus screens when it returns. Still, I always liked the SL screen better and am happy to have choices now.
