[LRFlex] Re: R8 Knobitis

Gary,

My apologies. I used the "reply" button to get the proper email address and
then forgot to change the subject line. Since I don't like to blame Leica
for any shortcomings, I blame myself for leaving the camera in my car in the
South Carolina hot weather. OTOH, Leica writers used to point out that
their cameras were good both in tropical and arctic climes.

Good grief, Knobitis is spreading to parts that aren't supposed to move at
all! Julian - I've heard of folks who like to disguise their Leica bodies
with black tape. Now you have a stealth Leica lens already!

Sorry, if I knew what kind of glue Leica uses to "kinda" make their lens
ring stick, I would be using it on all the knobs that move on the R8 with a
mind of their own. Sounds like just the thing to stiffen them up a bit.

The ornamental lens ring of my 50mm Summicron-R fell off today. It is the
front ring that identifies the lens, the maximum f/stop, and the serial
number.

Does anyone have experience in gluing it back on? Has it happened to anyone
before? I hesitate to scrape the old glue off or apply any new glue without
knowing what works--or if I should send it to a professional.

Thanks in advance for any knowledge on the subject.

Julian
