[LRflex] R3s .... too old?

Hi Folks
I wonder if you have any views on this.

My first R3 is STILL in for repair! The repairer has failed miserably
to repair the meter. As soon as it appears OK, and on goes the case -
pouf! It dies again. Now my other R3 has gone bananas. I was puzzled
by the meter readings, so had it checked last Thursday. 3 stops out!
Under exposing. so that's out of commission now, too.

And my R-E? Some suspiciously dark shots in the last batch.

Does anyone know if meter failure is contagious in Leicas? Camera flu,
perhaps? Never had problems like this with my old Canon EOS 600 - and
it's just as old as the R-E, and probably had a harder life.

The irony is that a Leica Meter that I bought recently in a defunct
condition, which I duly repaired, is no more than a stop out across the
range. The old 'uns must have been the good 'uns!
