I have heard the same about this lens; haven't put it to the test yet 
though.  My experience with the 35 'cron-R (2nd) is that is shows 
essentially no flare, however when the sun is just outside the picture 
area the image of the sun can reflect off some surfaces in the mirror 
box and cause stray reflections.  It's something I'd call mirror box 
flare, not lens flare.
