[LRflex] Query: 35mm f2.8

Question concerning Elmarit-R 1:2.8/35mm (III)

I took out my SL2 with 60mm Macro-Elmarit and my R8 with a Elmarit-R
1:2.8/35mm (III) out on my favourite walk around Lymme Park. It was an
interesting combo. The SL2 felt good but the auto exposure on the R8 was
useful at times. 

My question concerns the 35mm Elmarit. I tried to take a photograph facing
the sun with it, but the flare in the viewfinder put me off. Flare annoys me
a good deal in a lens and I have to say I was disappointed. After such
experiences I usually move on, sell the lens and search for better. Dennis
Lahey's pocket book makes no suggestion of flare for this lens. Anyone have
experiences with this lens to share to suggest I should not replace it? Any
suggestions what I should replace it with?
