Here's a thought. What will happen in 30+ years when my
kids/grandkids discover, amongst my effects, some negatives that
look interesting but want prints? Will they be able to go to a
local shop to have them printed? Will negative printing, slide
projecting equipment be readily available in the future?
Garage/oddment sales may be the only option.
A piece of frosted glass, a digital camera with a macro option, and
an editing program with an inverse function are all you need to
convert analog negative film into the digital film. These tools will
always be available -- which can't be said for the early digital RAW
formats.
