For panos it is important to avoid using any auto settings. Set white
balance, fix ISO, set aperture and shutter speed. Manual focus - use
a small aperture and set infinity focus according to depth of field
at that aperture. I put the camera vertically on a Novoflex L holder
and fit that holder to the Novoflex pano head which consists of a
panning plate with a spirit level and a rack to allow you to move the
camera back and forth so that you can set the lens nodal point over
the rotating point of the panning plate. This takes some trial and
error and is easier to find accurately with a single focal length
lens than using a zoom lens or the Tri Elmar. I find 35mm and 50mm
lenses work best at avoiding distortion but I also like the 24mm
Elmarit M because of its wider view and it has little to no edge
distortion if you allow about 1/4 over lap for each picture. I mount
the pano head on a sturdy tripod - make sure the spirit level is
level - and pan away - allowing for about 1/4 of overlap. At home I
download the images to Photoshop CS2 and after choosing the pictures
simply go > file>automate>photomerge. When the pano has been
assembled I then adjust contrast and brightness and apply smart
sharpen to add some snap to the scene.
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers
Howard.

The panoramas are lovely Howard.
Can you provide additional details on how you put them together from
the individual frames, and what precautions you took to avoid
distorted prespectives?
Thanks.
