[LRflex] Re: Olympus ans Leica, article

I thought Leica had said in the past the DMR was a one-time solution.
If they sell it as cupcakes, maybe they will consider doing a DMR Mk
2, and then the two systems will compete. Noticing the proportion of
Leica fans in this and other forums (fora?) who have switched to
Canon + Leica lenses with adapters, one would think the success has
been less than overwhelming (I don't know anything, if someone has
numbers just let them speak for themselves). Then, there will be no
real competition: the DMR will remain frozen in time while progress
is made in the new system.

So the new Panasonic seems to be the future platform for Leica lenses
for reflex. I think it is too early to tell if the 4/3 format has any
future, but it might.

I am sorry to think there may be no further DMR, and I am skeptical
about the future format. (I keep waiting before switching to
digital... Today I started my unscientific comparison of the Vario
Elmar 35-70 f:4 with the Vario Sonnar 35-70 f:3.4 for Contax (R8 vs
Aria, both on matrix metering-- at least the meter readings were
almost identical), using Fuji Reala (which I had been curious about
for some time).

I understand the logic of it all, and I wish Leica could come up with
a competitive (in realistic terms) digital R body/solution. I guess
they can't, and theymay have chosen to focus on lenses for an "open"
format. It will be a good idea only if the format prospers AND the
Leica lenses are really, really better than the competition.
