I think you will find it very interesting.

It is, indeed, and very worthwhile for anyone, here, to read.

The results for Heliopan & some B+Ws were an eye opener!

Interestingly, the price, in Poland, for the Sigma, is 3x that of the winning Hoya.

In Canada, the Hoya is twice the price of the Sigma, which certainly changes the "value for money", equation, even if it does not change the absolute performance evaluations.

From your test photos, it would appear that the Sigma did very well, except in flare... and even there, not so badly.

I normally do not use a UV filter, but need to put one on in dangerous circumstances... such as rodeo work, where I am frequently ducking rocks kicked up by horses and bulls. Last summer, I did not have a UV filter on and had the front element of my 12~60mm zoom lens chipped ... much as you'd get a stone chip on the windscreen of your car. And, it showed, in the photos!

The repair, btw, was not cheap, but reasonable, and the service from Olympus was incredible. Just 8 days, from mailing to receipt.... and this from a repair depot 5000km away!

As these are (a) for occasional use, (b) will always be used with deep lens hoods and (c) are incredibly cheap, just now - I think I'll give them "a go".

I'll let you know how I make out, in the real world, a opposed to the lab.

Thanks for the pointer.

David.

PS: A very interesting site... I must spend more time there!!! :-)
