[LRflex] Of wine, lenses and birds.....

Gentlemen:
Thanks for all your feedback and I'm quite amused by the thread re:
wine preferences. Maybe we need to add another few columns to the
survey re: digital vs film? Hahaha....analog vs pedal wine!
FYI - didn't use a monopod; the motion artifact was not due to camera
shake - one of the chicks seemed to move faster than the other
troopers and it exhibited so me fuzziness in comparison, which went
away with Focus Magic. However, I WILL add monopod onto my wish
list....along with a Canon 20D (or 30D) for an initial foray into
Digitaldom with Leica and Rollei glass.

When I can't get my hands on an expensive piece of 400mm glass for my
Leica reflex, there is a 750ml variety that can soothe my senses.
Reds are my favorite, although a plug for Philippe is that the Alsace
whites are SO 'yummbelievably' good. I have recently come across some
fine reds - Sequoia Grove 2002 Cabernet Savignon from Napa is good by
itself, but if you're interested in making your own Bordeaux, visit
the tasting room and you can use analog (not digital) pipettes to
measure off and blend your own 'appelation' with Cab Savignon, Merlot,
Cabernet Franc, even Malbec. I am no expert but many people liked
my blend and it was actually more fun than adjusting curves on
Photoshop.....hahahah!

A real winner I had most recently at $21 (that's STILL a lot cheaper
than a 400mm Novoflex lens + adapter, and even after getting the
longer lens I will STILL find it challenging to pull of the superb
telephoto stunts a la Herr, Young & Palmieri).....is....Chateau
Pedesclaux, Pauillac 2004 (which is more ready to drink than the '03).
Yes, it is considered wine future category, but decant this one
30minutes ahead of time and you will be pleasantly surprised of its
Pauillac quality at this price. I can guarantee that it will soften
your sense of urgency to buy yet another lens, at least for the
moment.

And so as a I pour myself a glass of the latter, a toast to all the
fine bird photographers on this list!

A Sante, Eric
