Actually guy's,
My first choice is a nice MacDonnel F4B in flying condition. I'd have to lose
about fifty pounds to be able to comfortably fit into the front cockpit again
but that's a small price to pay. I'd have to win a lottery just to be able to
keep a Phantom in full afterburner for more than 20 seconds!
Actually, if you have enough money, you can purchase a MiG 29 Fulcrum.
I actually got to pilot one along with a MiG 21 and a MiG 25 Foxbat, while on
a business trip to Russia several years ago. I had a wonderful flight
instructor who happened to be a Colonel in the Russian, (former Soviet) Air
Force. He
admired my old flight jacket that I had worn to the base. One Squadron patch
that I had on my jacket brought back memories to him, it was the Bengal Tiger
head of VMFA 542, my first squadron in Viet Nam. I asked him if maybe we had
met in the skies over North Viet Nam and he answered that he had been an
"Advisor" in 66~67. I had some extra patches and I gave him one for VMFA 542 &
VMFA
323 (Death Rattlers) my other old squadron in Viet Nam. Needless to say, I
made a friend.
We reminised over the "Good Old Days" of the Former Soviet Empire, when you
knew, or at least perceived to know, your enemy. At least back then, it wasn't
every tom, dick and henry, (I'm being politically correct), instead of hurling
ethnic slurs.
Just some miscellaneous ramblings from an old "Jarhead"
