[LRFlex] OT: Dickie bird identification.


OK Doug.... you win!

I've now checked about a dozen birding web-sites comparing Purple and Cassin's finches. (The drawings in the Sibley Guide are not as clear as others on the web. I don't have the Nat. Geo, or any other, guide.)

Boy! Am I confused!

Indicator                                       "Dickie Bird" matches:

Darker ear coverts                                      Purple
light stripe over eye                                   Cassin's
Raspberry colour on hindneck                            Purple
Brown on Hindneck                                       Purple
Strong face purple                                      Purple
Whitish eye ring                                        Cassin's
Bright red crown contrasts with face and chin.          Purple


So, I accede to your superior knowledge. ;-) I've corrected my page.
