We try!
Victoria and Vancouver Island is one of the most picturesque places I've been.
Thanks! We like the place too. Where are you located?
The head shot of the goose in your gallery is very good.
Thanks again! :) That one was a true fluke. I was walking in the park
when this migrating goose landed, looking for some grass for lunch. I
slowly got down on my belly and waited. Within 90 seconds he'd walked
close enough for the 80~200 zoom to do it's work!
Sometimes we get lucky! (It's why we take photographs, isn't it?)
You say you paint.. and like Canadian Honkers. Have you painted any? Any
chance you might shoot one of your paintings and post the image on the net
for us to see?
I'm betting you're pretty good! :)
Cheers!
Venture

Hmmmm... I'm not sure, Venture, how the goose fills "more of the
frame". This photo is identical to the smaller version, except for
being at 150 dpi, which makes for a bigger screen image. The first
version posted was from this scan, but reduced to 75dpi for faster loading
and more reasonable size.
No matter... I'm glad you liked it! :)

You might want to check out my other goose shot... at
http://www.horizon.bc.ca/~dnr Click on Photo Gallery and then click on the
thumbnail of the goose in the upper left corner. Now, this goose "fills
the frame"!
>Do you ever get any Wood Ducks in your area? They are my absolute favorite.
Woodie's are very rarely seen here... though the do turn up.
The Harlequins are reasonably common, but **very** skittish, and if near
the shore, start swimming out to see as soon as you hit the beach. Even
with the 400/f6.8 and a 2x extender it's very difficult to get much more
than a black dot in the center of the frame.
Cheers!
