Douglas writ:

Alex,
many moons ago my father tried to enthuse me for darkroom wizardry, but I never really enjoyed playing with chemicals in the dark (for that matter, home movies weren't for me either, and certainly not 9.5 mm Pathe), so I became the slide photographer of the family.

With my newly-acquired changing bag, I certainly don't intend to go further than developing the negs. Thereafter it's into or on to a scanner, and from there my digital darkroom takes over.

You're right, every now and again you discover little gems hidden away and gathering dust in second-hand stores or in your own cupboards/cabinets, I've got a Canon LTM 1.9/85mm and a 3.5/135mm that haven't had an outing yet - chromed massive brass beauties with a well used patina, from the 50's too I think.

Do please post some pix if you ever choose to exercise them.

The only thing I'll be digging out of the garden shed is a rake to get all the dead leaves in a pile for burning in the patio stove :-)

Quite why my tanks ended up in the shed I don't know. I suspect the feminine logic of my better two-thirds. But all they need is a good wash, and away I go. There are some unopened chemicals in the shed too. I'll be rediscovering the joys of Acutol, which was my standard brew in my university days.

The shots from the Nikkor look gorgeous, not a focal length I often use, but recently I fell in love with an early Zeiss Planar 1.4/85 with its strange triangular aperture in Rollei QBM mount, an absolutely wonderful lens for the Rollei 3003 and it fits nicely on the 20D too.

Aah, they don't make 'em like they used to.... :-) Watch this space for 50/2 LTM Nikkor shots.

Somewhere in my cupboard I have a 200mm LTM r/f coupled Komura. Even have the universal viewfinder, but I seem to remember the lens optics weren't up to much. Maybe I'll dig it out again for fun.

Best

Alex
