[LRflex] Re: Non Leica, Digital Wanderings, The R10 tha I dream of.

Hello Bob,

Indeed, it was a little provocative. Probably, looking at EXIF data, you
found that it was actually a 2 MP image. It was even more provocative since
te file was 2.7 M bytes.

Bob I'm gald of your reaction, it is very interesting. There are a lot of
unknown to me in this dugital world. And it's far more complex than a normal
consumer like you and I may grab. No Pun inteded, I'm far more ignorant than
you although my job is IT Engineer (in a very different field :))

When David showed me his pix on the DMR screen, I realised there was a
tremendous step forward compared to film. The possibilty to give the sensor
a set of paameters to match all the different lighting condition, going from
100 ISO to 3200 ISO in a simple push button, going from nightscene to bright
sunshine easily.

And your Canon has all this as well. The little Powershot I have ordered
while waiting for the R10 is a Canon, with the same essence as your Canon.
Lesser quality results, probably. You are right to despise it, but to show
pix to friends, it's enough.

I'm indeed joining your view, "it will do until later" except I put more
"love" to my R7 and the fuji Provia 100 ISO than in a Digital. But please do
not not consider me as hopeless, wait a little....

What does the difference is the geometry and absolute lack of distorsion
from the Leica R lenses. Of course, it takes days to scan a slide but in
fact I can't stand those barrel/convex distorsion.

When I take a pix with the Elmarit 24 (although sometimes despised), the pix
looks OK (provided I have not made mistakes). Same applies to the Sa 21.
When I take a pix with the Canon G5, for a friend in India, Mamma Mia....

So, I follow your feeling. I am waiting for a R10 with a 1.3 factor. It may
not even come. But that"s what I like. And if the M8 is a possible answer,
I'll keep my clumsy settings.

Thanks again Bob for your strong point exposed with an ultimate diplomacy.
It is very delicate and constructive. In fact, I adhere to all your
conclusions. Keep on.
