Thanks Dr. Ted,
I was most definitely shooting through the fence! I WAS risking lens,
camera, and injury, by nestling the lens inside the chain link, though! The
lens fit like it was made for the opening. I will say that while a hit ball
wasn't responsible for it - I was terribly injured while shooting this teams
games last year. The getting up and down to shoot from one knee may have been
what pooched my foot/ankle so badly. Being 6 foot 250 comes in handy usually,
but not in this case! The dr's have theorized that the transient pain from my
back masked an injury occurring to a bone, joint, muscle, nerve bundle, or some
combination of potentially all of the above.
At my core as an image maker, I strive to find, shoot, and/or create,
photo's which tell stories. When I gaze into this image I see lots of little
stories going on with in it. I just hope others see them in some way, as well.
Richard

Hello Richard,
The first photo:
Without question a fine action photo indeed! Are you shooting through
the fence with lens right at the wire mesh? Or where are you shooting in
relation to catcher-batter and umpire? As in what is between you and the
subjects? I can’t imagine being on the playing field and shooting as that’s
asking for the kiss of death or injury or smashed camera while up to your eye.
Or worse the loss of an eye or both depending how the ball hits you.
Given I’ve shot hundreds of baseball games amateur and professional,
I can’t imagine shooting without any protection between you and ball or
batter? If you were shooting from the playing field without protection you must
be the luckiest shooter in the world to be still able to punch on the key
board!! J
