I'm still banished to my laptop here with only PS Elements 2.0 - but there is a one click method to get the muddiness out of all 3 of these shots. Select 'levels' (NOT automatic levels), when the histogram pops up click on the right-hand (white) pipette, drag this across to the image and click with the pipette on the brightest part of the snow falling off the roof - wham-zam! it suddenly turns into a wonderful bright winters day with a much happier Harrier.
Another tweak is just a tiny subsequent touch more contrast.
Try it out - the effect is amazing - if it comes out too bright, you didn't find the brightest bit of snow.

Holy Cow! That's a trick I did not know... and it works REALLY well (not to mention, fast!). You just have to remember to click on "OK", after, or you lose the change when you close the window!

Thanks, Douglas, for sharing that prime tidbit!

Cheers!
