Probably the filter is going to an hassle like it is on the Elmarit 24.
But I'm an awful ol'boy, willing to protect the toys.
It's a never ending subject: To put a filter or not.
Indeed, it's nice to have the verticals curving a little, it breaks the
normal view. I have to wear correction lenses and the things I see through
are a little curved on the sides.
In a sense, "my natural view" is a wide angle. But it does not make me a
better photog!!!!

This is a nice review of the 21-R, Billie.
You will discover [if you haven't already] that when the filter is mounted,
you have to be extra careful with sunny backlit shots.
Isn't it nice that the distortion only causes things to 'lean' a little ?
Things don't curve, as some other lens brands I have used/seen !
