[LRflex] Re: More contoversy!

David,

Don't be too depressed with the "grumpy old men". We appreciate your work.

May I suggets you keep them up. You are not the only one who has been concerned
with the alleged inferiority of the DM-R at high ISO. A number of dicussions
have taken place on the Leica Forum.

I for one feel very much comforted with what you have shown, even if some other
dicussants might argue against the approach or the scientific purity of the
experiments.

The conclusion I draw from this is that the DM-R is superior at low ISO and
comparable (plus some) at high ISO. In other words the only "advantage"
Canon/Nikon now is the autofocus issue and Canon FF, both of which are in
themselves hotly contested issues.

Good work, looking forward to a nice true 1600 ISO DM-R shot :)

Cheers,
Tim

        G'mornin' Ted!

You are, of course, absolutely right.

Normally, I try not to concern myself with the technicalities, but with
the photos. However, in the case of the DM-R, I got very involved, as
high ISO performance was reputed to be poor... and it is! Using the 400
Telyt f6.8 and 2x as much as I do, high ISO performance became an issue
for me - even in broad daylight!

Peter Werner's suggestion of under exposing and then compensating seemed
to be the answer... and I believe it is.

I wasn't trying to show the group any superiority of the DMR, but to
show that Peter's trick really works.... with no more effort than
changing the ISO setting. For me, it makes the DMR a viable camera.

Herewith, I will cease this discussion, and after 24 hours, remove the
        pages from my site.

        Good Luck indeed! Enjoy! :-)
