I agree... these shots were never intended to be 'scientific proof ',
nor to sway anybody's opinion. High ISO performance is not a strong
point in the DM-R, but a few, like myself, are addicted to the 400 Telyt
w/2x converter. This means f13.6 wide open! High ISO's are a necessity
of life.

Peter Werner's 'tweak' of deliberate underexposure and compensation
during RAW conversion is the salvation of high ISO's on the DMR. Using
this technique, I believe the DMR can deliver acceptable results,
comparable to those of the 20D at similar ISO settings. That is all I
was trying to show.

Before you go too far, in this way... check the grain on ISO 1600 films
at correct exposure and when pushed 1 stop. I think you'll find the
grain is more objectionable than the noise.

Don't be sorry... though I'm not sure I'd have agreed with you. For
another Canon shot (at ISO 1600), please re-visit the page, but first,
please read my reply to Douglas Sharp.

For sharpness and detail...yes. For noise? I think not. It was shot at
ISO 400, where the DMR performs very well.

Not sure how Emily would like being called my grandson! ;-)

Weather here is -10C with a light dusting of fresh snow. The sunshine
is brilliant and as I look out my window, I see my neighbours walking
about in light coats - and one in a short sleeve shirt! Should be a good
day! :-)
