Tim,
The R8 and R9 with film back have TTL flash capabilities, but lose this
capability once the DMR is installed.
You have to manually set the diaphragm and flash power or rely on the
flash controls. What was suggested at the seminar was to measure
exposure without flash and then add some fill-in flash with partial
power and use the exposure-correction feature of the DMR.
But this is not a very fast solution. If you use a lot of flash and
cannot experiment with manual settings, IMO the combination of Leica
lens on a Canon body is superior to the all-Leica solution. I seldom use
flash, so this does not bother me much.
