[LRflex] M8 Kaput O.T. update

Dear Flexers,
First thank you to those of you both on and off list you have emailed me with
advice and condolences. Your concern is appreciated. Since there is no Leica
service in Canada without contacting New Jersey and that means dealing with
Canadian customs, yesterday morning after being unable to revive the camera
overnight, I shipped it off to Solms via Canada Post Purolator. I emailed
Andrea Frankl at Leica Customer service in Solms and copied Kelvin Leung at
Schmidt in Hong Kong that I wanted the repaired / replaced camera sent to Hong
Kong. Kelvin has come back with an acknowledgement and an apology and Andrea
has replied noting the shipping information. So, Leica customer service is
doing okay so far. As insurance I have obtained from David Young the emails of
the senior people that he dealt with during his DMR trials and I will keep
those for use if necessary. In the meantime I am shooting with my wife's Canon
G7 which is a competent little machine but not nearly as satisfying a
s using the M8.
