It's my understanding that the lens-dependant algorithm influences the
camera's processing to compensate for light fall-off, not sharpening, and
only in TIFF or JPG modes=2E When using RAW mode the lens information in
encoded into the =2EDNG header but it's up to the processing software to u=

Some of us buy wine by the bottle, some by the box=2E The cost per liter =
is
certainly lower when you buy the boxed wine, and if the primary purpose is=
to get drunk the boxed wine represents a better value=2E Now, I'm not say=
ing
the D80 is for the photographic equivalent of a wino, but that there are
varying qualities of output from different cameras=2E The D80 seems to
represent an excellent value, but it's 10MP with AA filter interpolated to=
16 bits isn't the same as native 16-bit 10MP from the DMR or M8 w/o AA
filter=2E And then there are the lenses=2E=2E=2E the better Nikon lenses =
are quite
good, but they ain't Leica lenses=2E On a recent photo=2Enet thread a
