Hello Aram,
Thank you for your reply.
I am into digital photography only for 3 years, and at the beginning I was
also very hesitant about this new technology.
I was very much (pleasantly) surprised how fast I embraced it, and how much
control one has.
I think my 10D is a little easier to adjust than the Digital Rebel, but I
have some friends, and they say that it is just a matter of getting used to
it.
If I were you, I probably would look at the 20D, or the 30D.
David Young seems to be quite happy with his, and the controls are very
similar to my 10D.
I was also lead to believe that it is a sound practice to keep checking the
histogram, and make adjustment for a retake as neccessary.
Wishing you luck with your decisions,
Erich

Thanks Erich. I wish it were that easy. If the exposure were
consistantly off by 1 stop or however many stops, that would make my life
easy. But when it varries at different f-stops that makes my life
unbearable to the point where I think I am going to return the camera as
Costco has a 90 day return privilage. I am not blaming the camera. It
works fine with the kit lens. It is just not doing what I was intending
it to do.
Is this also a problem with the 4/3 crowd out there? Or can you
successfully meter at any f-stop w/o having to constantly change the +/-
settings?
Aram

Hello Aram,
I use Leica & Contax glass on my Canon 10D, (as well as Canon), and most
of the time I have the exposure-compensation dial set to minus 1, to get
the correct exposure.
This setting is easy and quick on the 10D, and if there is a lot of white
in the frame, I set it all the way to minus 3, and after exposure I double
check the histogram.
No problem whatsoever.
Hope this helps.
With best regards,
Erich Kozak

Aperture priority or manual mode. Either one, same results. I also went
back and used my old adaptor w/o focus confirmation and the results were
the same. Just did another test using flash. The flash exposures were
all very consistant until I stopped down too much for the flash to
provide enough light. They then got dark. My problem without the flash
is overexposure as I stop down. The meter in either aperture priority or
manual is overcompensating for the stopped down lens and the more I stop
it down the more it overcompensates with the shutter speed.
I am ready to return the camera. Does anyone know if the Olympus 4/3
cameras have this problem? Is there an focus confirmation for the
Olympus camera yet? I don't see one advertised.

performance using Leica R lenses. I just conducted a more scientific
test and this is what I found. Using the 35-70/4 zoom, it meters dead
on with the lens at f4. If I stop down to f-5.6 if is 1/2 stop over
exposed. If I stop down to f-8 it is 1 stop over exposed. This is
consistent with what I found out yesterday using the 50 when I was
noticing some of my shots were over exposed and other were dead on. I
am using either manual mode or aperture priority metering mode. Both
do the same thing, obviously, since AE mode is just duplicating what
the meter says in manual mode.
I don't remember this problem when I would use the school's original
Rebel.
Has anyone seen this? Is there a solution? (yeah, DMR or wait for
R10).

Good Sunday Mornin', to you, Aram!
Hmmmm... I'm using the FC adapters with a 30D and find the exposures
quite consistent. I use Aperture Priority mode only ... which (along
with manual) are the only modes known to work with the adapters. Are
you using AP or AE (Auto Exposure) mode?
Cheers!
