Hi Bob,
thanks for the kind words.
Yes it's a lovely lens.I never used an Elpro, I always preferred
extension rings (tubes).Considering the 1,6 factor of the Canon sensor
I'm actually getting the equivalent of an 80mm, so it gets in close
enough. What I'm trying out next is a Leica-R 135/2,8 with the 1:1
adapter from the Macro-Elmar 100/4, I only just found out that it fits.
Then I want to compare the 135/2,8's from Zeiss and Leica, and the
50m/1,7 Zeiss against a Summicron. I'll be Testing to work out what
selection of lenses I take on holiday next month. If anything
interesting comes of it I'll post some examples.
cheers
Douglas

Lotta graceful flower snaps you got on that site!
The old 50 R-Cron is one of my favorites. Here's a recent casual 20D
test at around minimum field; full frame followed by 100% pixel view
about halfway out in the field at 5.6 (minor sharpening artifacts & all):

Have you tried it with the Elpro? Heres a shot handheld at 1/60 (on
Kodachrome 64 at 2.8).

Leave us not forget that at 1:2 repro the max aperture of the 60 Macro
is effectively f4, while the 'Cron/Elpro is f2 (and quite useable over
much of the field), apologies for the hammered grain in the background:

Cropped from the first shot.
Sex in the garden - I am constantly amazed at the quality produced by
the combination of a 20D and Leica-R glass.

If you look carefully in the bottom right hand corner you can see that
it's not safe to sit on Edelweiss flowers - it's the dreaded white
