Good to read that it's now working the way you wanted.
Keep off the focusing screen at all costs, or have it cleaned
professionally!
I already ruined one on a Fujica and smeared one on a Contax 137MD - of
course they still work, but it's really annoying when you use them.
Never do more than blow the dust off it with one of those rubber bulb
things, or use an Arctic Butterfly sensor brush to take off any dust.
Visible Dust also make special swabs and cleaning fluid for mirrors.
