[LRFlex] Leica Service, including LTM models.

There is another story. Leica pulled the agency for Canada from Kindermann, who have been Leica in Canada for decades, and gave it to Lisle Kelco. Net effect, all Leica stuff went up in price, Lisle Kelco went bankrupt less than 2 years later, and Canadians have to ship off to New York now for Leica repair. I am not sure if this has changed lately, but that was the last I heard.

Good news, Noel!

When Leica, N.J., pulled the distributorship from Kindermann to go with Lisle-Kelco, the break was less than amicable. I understand that Leica has asked Kindermann to take Canadian distributorship of Leica again, but it is not likely to happen. Too bad, actually....

However, they did take on service.

Gerry Smith and the boys at Kindermann are again Leica Service Reps for Canada. All authorized factory service for Leica is now done in Toronto. No more shipping to N.J.! :)

They did my R8 light leak for me some months ago, under warranty (they actually corrected the repair work done earlier by Lisle-Kelco), and their work was, as always, superb.

BTW: for those of us who have LTM Leicas....

When Leica sold off their stock of LTM parts for both bodies and lenses, Kindermann bought the lot! As a result they are the only place in the world, who can fully service an LTM camera, using new Leitz parts, if needed!

Just one of those facts worth filing away for possible future reference.

Best regards,
David.

PS: Hows the R6 holding up? I still miss it!
