I hate to state the obvious, but I would imagine that a contributing factor to 
Ted's lack of problems with adapters is that if he has 3 and rarely takes them 
off the lenses, the springs on the adapters aren't getting cycled much.  The 
springs people are talking about are on the adapter to lens side, not the 
camera to adapter side.  If you leave the adapter on the body and change lenses 
frequently, then the additional $$$ for the Novoflex is probably well worth it. 
 
But then again, Ted probably uses them 10x more than most of us!
