I can't believe Leica are withdrawing support for the DMR. Was there
a link to the original document which started this thread?

I didn't find any indication of this on the Leica website.

It would seem an odd thing to do if they are selling them as fast as
they can make them.

PS. Anyone unsatisfied with any aspect of Windows should *really*
give a Mac a try. Or at least visit their website. I was chatting to
someone a few days ago, who saw my PowerBook (laptop). She said
"Oooh, I was thinking of getting a MacBook (better value laptop).
They do look good. But I'm used to Windows - and it's difficult to
get used to another system".

All of these "reasons" to stick with Microsoft (no software, I need
MS Word, it's just for artists, not a serious computer, too
expensive) all of these reasons have been implanted in your
subconscious by M$. It's a well-known tactic (possibly invented by
IBM) called FUD - fear, uncertainty, doubt.

Try it (at least the website, http://www.apple.com/getamac/). There
are many Mac users on photography mailing lists and websites. There
are not many who tried a Mac and went back to Windows...

Sorry to evangelize, but I keep having to read criticism of MS. You
don't have to use it, you know ;-)

Good luck.
