Same here Aram. Can't afford the DMR. But, for me, it would also be false economy to pay $1200 +- for a 20D and not use all the features it offers, even if I can mount Leica glass.
And after toting Leica R gear around for almost 25 years the weight is not an issue - yet :)
Then again, I don't really see any hi-tech digital anything in my future, as long as decent film [read: Kodachrome] is still available.
FYI, the new Leica World News publication is now available. There is a folio of fashion shots done by Arthur Elgort with the DMR and some other interesting items.

The school has a Rebel and I dislike the viewfinder. I have tried the new Rebel (Xt???) and it was a bit better, but not much. I tried the 20D and it is better than both Rebels, but no where near the R8/9 viewfinder. I don't know that it is too dark, but it is much harder to focus, even with a Sumicron or my beloved 100 APO mounted. Everyone's eyes are different, so I am glad it works for you, but I am still at a point where I would love the viewfinder of the R8/9 but can't afford the DMR.

Aram:

One oft overlooked aspect of the 20D is the smaller size of the finder. However, as an eyeglass wearer, I find it easier to view the entire field with the 20D than with the R8! Certainly, the 20D finder is not as bright as the R8, but try it with any Summicron in broad daylight before you tell me it's too dark!
