You forget two aspects:

1) The DMR comes with a new focusing screen WITH frame lines for the
area covered by the sensor, like the M series. The focusing area is thus
smaller. Additionally, you see what is around the active area, which I
feel is an advantage

2) The DMR screen has a micro prism and a split prism rangefinder that
make critical focusing much easier is some instances
