This is perhaps why, a quick and dirty translation of what German
dealers have to say
Various other sources support the factual content, the "Leica bei
Meister Newsletter" reported their absolute satisfaction with regard to
this move as the business model promoted by Lee was extremely disruptive
in the traditional relationship to dealers, suppliers and customers.
Apparently, opposition to Lee's methods developed at all levels, one
reason being that Lee (according to the Newsletter) was not accepted in
matters of leadership, neither for his technical skills nor with regard
to his attitude to staff.
Lee has gone, Dr Kaufmann is in charge - a sigh of relief is heard from
the dealers
Primarily, it is to be expected that the recent neglect of the smaller
Leica/Panasonic models will immediately come to an end, that Leica will
again show a market presence with a wider range of products and make a
much more comprehensive assortment than before available to the friends
and devotees of the traditional brand.
Cheers

People who are trusted with information and leak it usually are not
trusted subsequently and receive no more information. Nothing cagey
about it. I'm not going to draw you a diagram. Lee was doing some
really disruptive things within the company.
However..., if you consider Lee's background and Kaufmann's, you can
read all kinds of things into about Leica Kultur, who has it and who
hasn't. In the end, "Best Buy" was not the way forward for Leica.
Leica = Kaufmann and Kaufmann is protecting his investment.

Sorry, William, I don't live in Wetzlar anymore, so I can't really
ask a Leica employee. You are acting pretty cagey about this,
when a simple explanation might suffice.
