More generally speaking, even if you can cam the thing
so it doesn't flash in P or T, there is still another
problem. The aperture has to close down at the same
rate on all lenses made for that camera. Most of the
more astute manyufacturers had a standard rate for
mopst or allof their lenses IE: Nikon Contarex,
Leicaflex. But some camera and lensmakers didn't. If
you come across a lens that doesn't you can cam it so
it will allow you full aperture metering if the f
stops on the aperture ring are spaced properly but
when it comes to shutter preferred or programme, the
lens will be closed down to an aperture other than
that mandated by the camera unl;ess the aperture
actuator travels with the aperture ring! For me it's
not a problem since I rarely use P ot T on an R! Most
of the 3rd party mfgs for R did space the f stops
properly on the ring, but only the ones that
introduced their mounts after the R4 would have the
same rate of travel on the actuator.
Now I've done it. I feel dizzy!
