If your 50mm  Summicron has a built-in, extendable lens hood, is should 
have E55 filters (55mm thread).  If it is the older design, with the 
clip-on lens hood, then the filters size is 43.5mm. Such filters are 
difficult (though not impossible) to find. In this case you need a 
#14160  filter ring (fairly readily available from B&H, amongst others) 
which is used to hold Series VI filters in place.
