Hi David,
Like you only, it's, year-assgnment number-roll-frame, 04-1-01-36.  Like
wise we put assgnment numbers, film details along with other pertinent
information on file in the computer where it can be printed out if necessary
or for quick reference.

When I have many rolls on one subject they're filed in negative sleeve
pages, 7 strips with attached contact sheet. So it's 04-01-1-36 to designate
year 04 -assignment number 01, roll 1, the negative used 36. Along with, the
edge of the neg is clipped for quick reference in the darkroom and or
scanner.

The sleeves and contact sheets are filed in 3 ring binders for the year.
Sometimes several binders for one year. Or where we have so many rolls shot
on the same subject, as in the "Women in Medicine" book. Those are numbered
similarly but all in subject specific binders separate from general
material.
